Important details about the GCSE revision course…

Subjects

The course offers English Language, Mathematics and Science, and each student will choose two of these subjects which they will revise for the duration of the course.

Exam Board

In order to deliver highly tailored revision sessions please make sure you know which exam board you are using so that staff can have past papers and exam board specific practice questions ready for you.

Activities

In order to improve blood flow and oxygen to the brain, students will take part in a number of activities each day, at least one of which will be aerobic.  All activities will cater for all students regardless of their experience and level of fitness.

Other quieter activities, such as yoga and climbing, will allow individuals to focus on stamina, balance and building their core strength. These sessions break up the intense revision periods and give everyone’s brain time to absorb the previous learning.

Sometimes the whole group will come together for an activity and at other times students will be able to choose from a variety of different activities, led by qualified instructors, such as cardio tennis, climbing, abseiling, yoga, basketball, swimming, mountain biking and dance.

Revision Sessions

There will be 24 hours of structured revision time over the course, divided between the two subject areas, and delivered by subject specific teachers to small groups, each with a maximum of eight students.

There will also be a tutor on hand during the private study time to answer questions.

Outdoor Experience

At Gordonstoun we have always believed in the importance of being outdoors to support student well-being, and with this in mind there will be a half day expedition to a local wild place.

Sitting round the campfire, toasting marshmallows and chatting to new friends on the beach is sure to revive sleepy spirits, re-energise everyone ready to restart revision.
